Reos
by Bryan Lim Kok Kian
WHAT
Reos Is a modular sofa where upon damage, the remaining undamaged module can be separated and repurposed easily into another product.
WHY
Many furniture, due to single use design and cheap material, get discarded when damage occurs and partially affects its usability, despite other parts of the furniture being in good condition to reuse or recycle. This leads to unnecessary disposal of good condition materials/furniture sections in an already growing furniture waste problem.
HOW
When a module/section is damaged, that section can be removed and disposed of or replaced. The undamaged modules could be detached and reused for other purposes in the house. This helps extend the useful lifespan of the sofa & its modules than tossing an entire sofa due to a damaged part. Solid wood is used in often damaged areas with plywood making up the remaining.

Hello, I'm an avid hands-on designer who likes to sketch & explore new things. Two lifelong design goals of mine are to create products that help bridge connections, new or old, between people and products or the environment. That and designing giant robot mechs.
