The Artisanal Commons explores the preparation process of simple yet extravagant solemnization for straightforward couples in Singapore. It aims to cultivate multi-generational ties through traditional crafting workshops, despite the primary function of serving ROM. With a surrounding site context of heritage and of the arts, the Artisanal Commons is a contemporary statement that bridges modernity and traditional crafts. The expanse of the building represents strength as arches, spanning across two individuals, signifying union between two people. The recurring motif forms in thresholds, pathways and the extents of the building. Following closely to a clean and form-centric style, the expanse of the Artisanal Commons creates atypical shadows and ambiences suitable for the spatial program.
