Nexus

Nexus is an interpretation centre which encourages members of the community to appreciate and celebrate heritage while building on it as we progress into the future. As the name suggests, this development aims to be the focal point of the vicinity, being a catalyst which stitches both the community, and urban fabric of jalan besar together. Designed with extreme sensitivity to site context, NEXUS acts as a web which spans across the region, creating new paths which link key spaces to increase circulation and movement. Within the building are new pockets of space which add vibrance to people’s lifestyles as ultimately, this project aims to provide residents with amenities and activities that can be experienced on the street level to foster cultural and everyday life.

Hello, I’m Charlotte! I have always taken an interest in how spaces are interconnected, how elements are ordered and located, and by balancing these factors into one cohesive architectural whole. I was inspired by the principles and sensitivity that Bjarke Ingels adopts in his work, which I feel is lacking in today’s urban landscape, and hope to cultivate a design sensibility that caters to the needs and lifestyle of our population as he does. This ability to orchestrate how people see, feel, or experience the harmony of a space hence plays a part in my decision to continue pursuing design.
