Payar Square

Located at Lembu Road Open Space, Payar square is a community center that aims to promote mental wellness through the appreciation of Bengali literature, arts and crafts for Bangladeshi migrant workers. Writing poetry has been a common healing medium for the migrant workers to discuss their personal feelings, often about their lives in exile. Inspired by their passion for Bengali literature, Payar Square is modeled based on a common Bengali Poetic form called "Payar". Visitors can come and experience the flow and rhythm of the Payar structure while perusing the engraved poems written by the migrants. The community wellness center also offers a variety of programmes centered around Bengali literature, arts and crafts such as the viewing galleries, arts & crafts studio and many more.
